Cita previa for the NIE in Madrid

You book the cita previa for a NIE in Madrid online, free of charge, on the administration’s appointment site: province of Madrid, then the exact procedure, then a time at the office offered. No appointment, no service at any police desk for foreign nationals; the hard part is the right procedure and a free slot.

How the booking runs

  • Open the administration’s booking site, the icpplus page of sede.administracionespublicas.gob.es, and select Madrid as the province
  • Pick the exact procedure: the NIE assignment, the EU certificate and the TIE fingerprints are separate entries
  • Type your passport or NIE details and your name exactly as they appear on the document
  • Choose an office and a time if one is offered; a confirmation with a reference follows
  • Keep that confirmation: it names the office and the time, and the desk may want to see it

Why the slots vanish

Demand in Madrid is high and slots are released in small batches. Plenty of people search at the same moment, and an empty calendar is the usual answer. Checking the page now and then rarely lands a time.

Then there is the mislabelled booking. A time reserved under the wrong heading gets refused at the counter, however hard it was to win.

What we do at this stop

We confirm which procedure matches your situation, prepare the details the booking form asks for, and search the cita previa system for a time at the office that handles it. Once a slot turns up, you receive the confirmation plus a list of what to carry.

Slots the system never releases cannot be conjured, and nobody can promise a date. What we can do is make sure the time you get is for the right desk.

Information point

Questions about Cita previa booking

Is the cita previa itself paid?

No. Booking through the administration’s site costs nothing. The state fee for the document is the Modelo 790 código 012, a separate payment, and our help is a separate, optional private service.

May a friend or an agent book it?

Yes: anyone can enter your details and reserve on your behalf. On the day, you attend in person, carrying your own passport.

What if I cannot make the appointment?

Cancel it on the same site, so the slot goes back into the system, and book again. A missed appointment is simply lost.
